What does sex feel like for men?
What does sex feel like for men, and is the male orgasm really different from a woman’s?
If you’ve only ever had sex from one perspective, it’s natural to wonder what it’s like on the other side. People often picture it as a totally different experience depending on anatomy, but in reality, it’s a bit more nuanced.
Someone with a vagina will never feel sex exactly like someone with a penis—and vice versa. But that doesn’t make one “better” or more complete than the other; it’s just different, and honestly, trying to compare the two directly usually doesn’t get you very far.
To get a better sense of what this actually feels like in real life, it helps to look at how men themselves describe it in their own words online.

“It feels warm with a bit of tightness, so you’ve got sensation all around, but still soft enough that it doesn’t feel like it’s getting squeezed too much.
In some situations though, it can feel more like sliding into a keyhole—kind of like something lined with dry rubber inside.”
Eric, 34
“For me, the moment of entering is pretty intense. It feels like this kind of mutual ‘okay, we’re really doing this’ moment between two people.
With a condom on, it definitely feels different compared to going without one. There’s less sensitivity, and it feels a bit less connected overall.
Without it, there’s this warm, soft feeling right away. It’s wet in a way that’s hard to really compare to anything else.”

Harry, 30
“The first time you go in, it’s kind of unreal. Especially when it’s tight and really wet.
Once you’re inside, it’s hard to describe—almost like the vagina is gripping your penis like your hand would.
Different positions totally change the feel too. From behind can hit way deeper and feel way more intense than missionary.”
Aaron, 36
“There’s always that first hit when you go in—the warmth hits the nerves along the shaft and it just registers immediately.
It’s kind of like opening a hot oven door on a cold day.
As she gets wetter, it can be tricky to keep friction going, and sometimes it feels like the orgasm is slipping away.
My own release changes too—some are smaller, some massive. The big ones feel like a volcano going off inside you, your whole body registering it.
Sometimes, to push it even further, I’ll suck her toes at the end (I have a foot thing).
After a huge orgasm, there’s nothing left to do but collapse on top of her, totally drained and satisfied. You’re spent, but too weak even to roll over.”

“I’ll give this a shot.
What’s lucky here is that you have a similar organ to mine. So when I describe something physical about my penis, imagine it happening to your clitoris, which, for some magical reason, is six and three quarter inches long and girthy.
The first emotional bit is the idea that you have a woman in front of you, whether she’s lying or kneeling, who is willing and looking forward to you being inside her body. That takes a certain level of intimacy and trust, and that’s hot in and of itself. Watching someone do some variant of getting into a receptive position and anticipating you inside her is hot from that standpoint. In fact, in many relationships that’s the only validation some men get that they’re physically desirable in any way.
A penis isn’t prehensile. Sometimes a girl is so wet in the rolling around and foreplay that with an erection bobbing around and a hungry vagina expanding and moistening, it slides right in. That’s a beautiful, unexpected surprise. You go from being outside of a woman to being suddenly clamped somewhere very, very warm.
But typically, you have to find some way to support your bodyweight while one of you finds a mechanism to guide that penis of yours into her body. Sometimes it slides right in, like taking a long, slow drink of something rich and thick and warm, like a very high-priced hot chocolate. Like your clitoris has just slid into a softened but warmer-than-body-temperature stick of butter.
But sometimes, there’s a small resistance. You feel the very tip of yourself, which has no “pleasure” endings really, up against a slight resistance, like the moment before a bottle cap that’s been sealed at the factory “gives” and pops open. And then because of your hardness and body weight, you “pop” into her body, feeling the area behind her pubic bone catch you and draw you in. And that’s really like the aforementioned hot chocolate, or someone running an oiled hand down your back in a massage.
If you’re in missionary, it’s very very intimate, and you’re aware, very aware, of your weight. You have to support some of it on her mons pubis and hips, but the majority of it you support on your elbows, meaning that you have to envelop your body around hers and find a comfortable way to surround her that’s supportive but not crushing.
If you’re behind her, you’re grabbing her hips and pulling her on to you. You’re balancing your weight between the balls of your feet and your knees, and using your hands to swing her gently back and forward. Rear-entry is much tighter, and there’s a ridge just at that entrance, where your vagina opens and curls back along your pubic bone, with almost a “groove” that catches you right where it feels the best.
If you’re still, you’re aware of warm, and wet, and her heartbeat in the soft velvety tissues around your penis. But moving feels good. It feels really good. Whether it’s moving back and forth with your body and keeping the sensate levels in your penis low, or whether you are “squeezing” your penis and thrusting it forward with the muscles in your pelvis, which rapidly accelerates you towards orgasm. It makes you swell and feel harder, which is why just before we come, when we’re moving forward by chasing orgasm and using those muscles, it swells and pulses as we thrust.
Then the game begins. Not enough stimulation, her excitement level drops to zero, and/or your erection dies. Too much stimulation, and you’re going to come too fast. Basically what sex turns into is like you’re in a river approaching a waterfall. If you’re in the water and paddling, you’re going to go over that waterfall eventually. And the closer you get to the edge, the harder it is to not go over that edge. So you play a balancing act of trying to do what feels good to her but also that doesn’t bring you too close. So you probe at different depths and rhythms, trying to find a balance and a sweet spot.
If you’re lucky enough to be fluid-bonded and on birth control, when you come there’s that just-as-you-come moment like the striking of a match just before the flames start, and then you’re just feeling the engine of your orgasm, the prostate, and all the muscles around same spewing hot, thick fluid. Now, not only are you feeling warm and wet on the outside, but also the inside. And emotionally, there is no better feeling that feeling yourself empty into a willing woman, whose vagina has seemed to open up somehow underneath you to catch it.
And by empty, I mean empty. Not only is your prostate pushing all of its fluids out of you in warm, orgasmic pulses, but you feel your strength drain into her, your energy, you’re feeling it – from your fingertips to your toes something of you flowing into her. The ancients described it as yang energy.
And if she’s coming, you can feel the muscles suck eagerly at you, then tighten, then the tremors of her body building, and then suddenly the upper wall of the vagina “tent” away, or the muscles clench and relax from the anal wall right the way to the top of her head.
And when that’s happened, all you want to do is just curl up with her and stay with her and in her and let whatever’s going to run wherever go wherever. Because you’re no aware of the weight of your body, the space it occupies, the tension in your tendons, the grinding of bones and cartilage in your limbs. Sleep isn’t the right word, but you don’t want to move. But as the guy, you have the practical matter because of pregnancy and HIV and that to remove yourself whilst holding the condom on, and then removing yourself to clean and wash everything, check for breaks, and then return ASAP, hoping she hasn’t gotten up and isn’t putting new panties on.
Hope this helps.
Ragefucking on the other hand is more fun, because you’re throwing her around and she’s loving it and when orgasm hits it’s like machine gun fire, an angry, purely bestial barking from your orgasmic center.”

“First of all, when I start getting turned on (which could be instigated by anything as grand as my girlfriend explicitly telling me that she’s horny, or as small as her bending down to tie her shoes before we go out and I see the curve of her hip staring at me) there is an immense feeling of ‘I need to put this erection somewhere.’ It doesn’t cause me any anxiety. It just feels important.
I’ve heard my girlfriend explain that she feels similarly when she starts getting aroused, but instead of ‘I need to put this somewhere’ she has thoughts of ‘I need to be filled up with something.’ Which I’m happy about as it makes me feel like I’m not crazy. So the importance of the arousal speaks to me and, with how connected me and my partner are lately, it generally doesn’t take long before my penis is either in her mouth or her vagina. Not to be crude about it, it’s just the truth. We just don’t do a ton of foreplay and it works for both of us.
The moment before I first enter her (orally or vaginally) I’m so excited I feel like I could explode. The first moment that I slide inside of her feels like everything in my life falls to the wayside and I’m only there. I’m so present. I imagine that these statements seem like how a drug user would describe coming up on his drug of choice, but it’s true for me.
All stressors, all of my work stuff, any grievances that I have with anyone outside of that room all fall away. My penis fills up with desire, gratitude, and longing, while it is enveloped by my partner’s warm, soft, loving embrace. There is nowhere else in the world me or my penis would rather be in that first moment of penetration.
How I feel during sex is just all kinds of contentment. My girlfriend will often want to switch out of certain positions because they squish her stomach up in a way that she doesn’t like and it makes absolutely zero sense to me. In my mind, I’m thinking, ‘I’m having sex right now. With you! And I’m loving it. Anything to do with your fat, or cellulite, or makeup, or anything else, real or imagined, is the furthest thing from my mind. I promise.’
I feel like I’m in such a positive, blissful state when I’m having sex that anyone could deliver almost any bad news to me and it wouldn’t phase me. ‘I owe $40,000 in back taxes? Well, that kind of sucks. But my penis is in someone that I love so it’s all good.’
The orgasm is intense. From what I can gather from having witnessed a fair share of sexual partners throughout my years, it seems like women have longer orgasms that have a certain depth to them. And I feel like, for men, or at least for me, it’s as if that intensity that women experience over 15-45 seconds is condensed into our 3-5 seconds. I climax really hard, and it’s intense. But I doubt it ever lasts more than ten seconds.”

“You feel different things along the shaft, with the tip being the most sensitive. That initial feeling sends a wave down the whole thing and makes the first entry really noticeable.
Unlike when using a male masturbator, once you’re in, the soft, spongy tissue wraps around you perfectly—warm and wet. As you start moving, each part of the penis hits different sensations. It’s all really enjoyable.
Another part I love is when my balls brush against her vulva—it’s an amazing feeling for both of us. I had a partner once who wasn’t deep enough, and I missed that sensation entirely.
Every penis and every vagina is different—warmth, wetness, tightness all change how it feels.
To give you an idea: stick your index finger in your mouth and wrap your tongue around it. Now imagine your finger had the sensitivity of a clit—that’s kind of what it feels like. You can actually practice and explore these sensations safely on a Sex Doll Torso, which gives a surprisingly realistic feel for training or solo practice.”
